How To Start GTA Online Mercenaries Update

Alright so you will need a few things to start.

First you will need the Avenger which can be bought in the Warstock Cache part of the phone. It has some upgrades but the one you need is that computer. It’s called the mission terminal or something. In total you are looking at about 5 million if you need to get the Avenger and the Terminal upgrade.

From there you can call it via the Service menu in GTA online. Head inside and you will also need to be a VIP, Gang leader or something like that to start the missions at the Terminal. You will have two choices here. One side is working for Merryweather, which is a series of missions. The other side is doing freelance Mercenary missions with set pay. These are quicker, but not as in depth.

Either way that is how you start doing this update in GTA online.

We did this in a public lobby. With the recent update to GTA Online it’s very likely it works in a private lobby, but we discovered it when playing in a traditional lobby with other players. It’s important to note that you can see the blue dot on the radar from the air. The blue dot is the icon that represents a random event. Simply fly around until you see the blue dot, check the route below for example.

The white line around the beaches is the route you should take. Jump in a helicopter. If you don’t have one, call Merryweather, request one, then shoot the pilot and take their helicopter. Follow the route along the beaches staying at a relatively low altitude. Then you just check the map for a blue dot. We’ve had several editors find the location using this method.

Rockstar Games love to add a lot of randomness to these procedures so if it’s still not found using this method, just expand your search over the entire map. It seems daunting but it’s not that huge from the air. Simply stay low enough for it to appear and search all nearby bodies of water.

A number of the Security Contracts you can get in the Contracts DLC have missions that feature variable random elements, such as finding the safe combination in Tequi-la-la. Vanilla Unicorn is the same sort of mission. They are both item recovery missions where you attack a location, discover a safe, and then find a safe combination. This lets you access the safe and reclaim the items inside before returning to the Agency to complete the missions.

So far, we have only found one location for a safe combination in Vanilla Unicorn. Once you are inside the club there is a curtain you can kill most of the enemies from. Head into the main room and at the back of the room is a bar. On the left corner of the bar you will find a yellow sticky note. You need to get really close and then the game will give you the opportunity to pick it up. Once you’ve collected it, you can then use it to open the safe, claim the item, and complete the mission.

Much like other objectives (such as finding the safe combination or opening the hangar doors) certain parts of this mission can be random. You must fight your way through the Humane Labs interior before eventually arriving in the garage. Once in the garage the animal you will need will be in one of the trucks. After you enter the truck you will get the objective asking you to find the button to open the lab doors.

There are likely multiple spots for finding the button to open the doors in the lab. This particular spot is very easy to find as it’s right next to the doors. Be careful, as you approach more enemies will spawn in behind you. Further enemies will spawn once you press the button, so be prepared for a fight, especially if you’re playing solo.

There are likely other locations to find the button to open the lab doors in the Humane Labs. We’re going to keep playing missions and will update this post if other locations are discovered.

]]> One objective in the new Contracts DLC is search the area for a button to open the hangar doors. This guide on How To Unlock The Hangar Doors In GTA Online will tell you where you can find the button in the Los Santos International Airport Hangar for one of the new DLC missions.

This is one of the missions that tasks you with finding and reclaiming a stolen vehicle. The stolen bike can be found in the back of the airplane that is sitting inside the hangar. Once you have found the vehicle, you will need to search around for the button so that you can open the hangar doors. This is likely very similar to finding the safe combination objectives so it may have more than one location.

On the North side of the hangar there is a couple of burnt out and covered vehicles as well as some mobile stairs. You can find one of the locations of the switch on the wall. It will have an arrow appear over the top of it when you get close. There are two vehicles next to it, both covered in a blue cover. There’s a good chance there are more spots.

There are likely multiple spawns for the safe combination as this mission appears quite frequently. Although the location changes, the item is likely very much the same. It’s a small, yellow, post-it note that is stuck to a surface. You need to get close enough to be able to interact with it. Then, once you pick it up, you will have the combination to the safe so you can get into the safe, take the items you need, and complete the mission.

There are also safe combination locations for the Vanilla Unicorn mission.

This is where we found the combination to the safe in Tequi-La-La in The Contracts DLC. Behind the bar on the ground floor, right in the corner, near the Staff Only door that doesn’t open. Get close enough and the objective will change to say collect the safe combination. Collect the safe combination and the interact with the safe. Then collect the item inside. Once this is done, you need to return the necklace to the Agency.

]]> VIP Contracts are the main elements of The Contracts DLC. This guide on How To Unlock VIP Contracts In The Contracts DLC For GTA Online will tell you how you can unlock the VIP Contracts section of the DLC as initially, when you first start playing the DLC, these contracts are not available. Only the random, more regular contracts.

The main bulk of The Contracts DLC has you completing minor contracts for regular income and then eventually unlocking VIP Contracts that progress the main story. This is how you meet Dre and other characters featured in The Contract DLC. It’s actually relatively quick and easy to unlock VIP Contracts, you only need to complete a single mission, or maybe two.

How To Unlock VIP Contracts In The Contracts DLC For GTA Online

Before you can unlock the VIP Contracts you need to start the regular contracts by registering as a CEO and then completing the first mission. We actually completed two, as shown below.

  • 1x Liquidation Mission
  • 1x Gang Termination Mission

At this point, Franklin will give you a call and ask you to meet at the Golf Club. This is a story mission where you meet Dre and he will ask you to take care of a minor problem and if you can, he will give you more work. Once you pass the mission Dre will send you VIP Contracts so you can progress through the main story. You will need to complete one more mission before Franklin calls you about the new contracts. You will then need to follow the story for a short time before VIP Contracts become available.

As the error suggests, the current lobby has too many VIPs, CEOs, and Club Presidents, so you cannot register.

The Computer Is Unavailable In Agencies For GTA Online DLC
There is no “instant” fix for this. It’s a limitation that has been in GTA Online for some time. However, there is a much faster way to fix it than running back up to the agency and using the laptop every time. When you get this error you want to open the main menu and switch GTA Online sessions. When you load into the next session, you will spawn right near your Agency. Don’t go inside.

Instead open the interaction menu (hold the touch pad on PS4/5). Then select the Securo CEO option. If the option is available and you can switch, turn it on real quick. You can then head into the Agency building and interact with the computer. If the option is greyed out, you can save your time trying to access the computer as the limit would have been reached. Simply change session again until you load into one where the slot is available.

]]> There are a number of bugs that can occur when trying to get into the Agencies in The Contract DLC. There are two bugs to watch out for. Infinite loading when entering an Agency, even if you buy the best agency, and the invisible character bug. Don’t worry, we found fixes for both issues so you can carry on with the DLC.

What’s The Cheapest And Best Agency To Buy In GTA Online Contract DLC

When you enter the Agency for the first time, you are meant to get a cut-scene where Franklin introduces himself and discusses the future of the joint venture. If you do not get the cut-scene, your character will bug out and you will go invisible. While you can run around the Agency and look at what’s inside, you cannot interact with any of the characters and the DLC will not progress as the game doesn’t recognize that the cut-scene has taken place.

There are two main bugs we experienced with the DLC. Infinite loading and invisibility. If you’re stuck on loading when trying to enter the Agency, simple open the main menu and switch GTA Online session. Once you switch sessions, the loading should be fixed and you can now go inside.

The invisibility bug will persist regardless of how many times you join a new GTA Online session. To fix this bug you need to completely shut down the game and restart it. The next time you enter the Agency you will get the cut-scene and can progress normally.

As with all of this kind of DLC in Grand Theft Auto Online, the best is a very subjective term. All of the different Agencies have the same features. You can pay additional cash for an armory, living quarters, all the flavor upgrades that are usually available when you purchase or start a brand new business. However, if money is a concern, there is definitely a “best” option as the price between each of the Agencies varies.

What’s The Cheapest And Best Agency To Buy In GTA Online Contract DLC

In terms of pure value, it’s a pretty simple decision to make. There are four Agencies currently available to purchase. All of the Agencies are purchased through the Dynasty 8 Executive app on the Internet section of the in-game mobile phone. In terms of best value, here are the prices.

  • Hawick – $2,830,000
  • Little Seoul – $2,010,000
  • Rockford Hills – $2,415,000
  • Vespucci Canals – $2,145,000

With the most expensive being Hawick at $2,830,000 and the cheapest being Little Seoul at $2,010,000, the clear winner in terms of pure financial value is Little Seoul. It’s the cheapest to setup so if you want to avoid spending all your cash or don’t want to purchase Shark Cards to buy the more expensive options, Little Seoul is the best choice.

In terms of the best location for the quickest access to the jobs. We’re still working through the initial objectives and will update shortly with the closest Agency in terms of completing missions. Check back in an hour or two for an update.

The white arrows indicate the random Security Contracts that appear. The one at Tequi-La-La is probably the quickest so being close to there isn’t a terrible idea. The red icon is the first mission, the second is at the FIB HQ. As you can see, it’s spread out over a large area. When you leave your Agency you can always leave with a helicopter so the location isn’t that important.
