So first and foremost you need to buy the DLC. The Subject 2923 DLC is not available as a free update for Remnant. You have to purchase the DLC from either Steam or Xbox, although the game is on Game Pass. Once you have the DLC installed, you’ve got everything you need to roll a brand new campaign in the new content.

How To Access Subject 2923 DLC In Remnant From The Ashes
Once you are in the game you need to head to the red crystal at the home base. From there, select the Crystal. If you have another player with you, they also need to interact wit the red crystal. Then select World Settings. From there you will see three options – Campaign, Adventure, and Survival. Select Reroll Campaign at the bottom. Finally, select the Subject 2923 campaign.

  • Head to your home base and return to the red crystal
  • Select World Settings
  • Choose Reroll Campaign
  • Select the new Subject 2923 campaign

Once you have done that, you will enjoy the full campaign of the new DLC. You can also explore the area in Adventure Mode but there’s not story or any other features. It’s just the new zone and randomly generated areas and different boss fights.

There is a lot of randomness involved in grabbing this armor, it can be a little brutal. Remnant: From The Ashes generates each level slightly differently every time you play. This means certain bosses, certain encounters, and certain items, can be very difficult to locate when you are trying to find something specific.

How To Get New Carapace Armor In Remnant: From The Ashes

How To Get New Carapace Armor In Remnant: From The Ashes
The most difficult step is locating Hardened Carapace. It’s quite a lengthy explanation so check out our where to find Hardened Carapace guide for the full details. You will need 3 Hardened Carapace to get each piece of the Carapace Armor set. Once you have all three pieces, there are two additional steps.

You need to get the Parasite condition. This is a special condition that is caused by a single enemy, as shown above. They appear on the Swamp of Corsus map, usually in the tunnels and mineshafts in the underground section of the level. When you encounter the enemy, shoot them so their health is at about 25% then let them beat on you. Face them directly, eventually they will grab you. Don’t try to escape the grab, let it complete.

Once the grab is finished you will have the Parasite Condition, reducing your HP to 50%. You then need to find the Brain Bug boss. Once you encounter the boss, as long as you have the Parasite Condition, you can approach it and talk to it.

This is where you trade the Hardened Carapace items for the complete Carapace Armor set.

To unlock the new Carapace Armor, you need Hardened Carapace’s. This guide on Where To Find Hardened Carapace In Remnant: From The Ashes will tell you the location of special bugs that you must kill, before they escape, in order to get the items required for the armor.

You need to be on the Swamp of Corsus, Adventure Mode works fine. You need to locate one area in particular, the Hall of Whispers which usually just before the Dream Eater Boss. The entrance is always one of the large, mountain-like structures with the doorway, as shown above.

Where To Find Hardened Carapace In Remnant From The Ashes
When you are lucky enough to find the Hall of Whispers, you then need to be lucky enough to find a bug, a very specific bug. This bug always spawns in the room above. Obviously the location of the room is randomly generated each time and the layout of the dungeon is different. However, the contents of this room are always present and always the same. You have to be quick. At the back of the room there is a large bug, like the ones near the abandoned throne. Sneak in and try to kill it before it escapes.

There are two types of bugs that spawn at the location, and never more than one. One bug drops an item from a list of possible items, such as the Amulet of Epicaricacy and Ring of the Mantis, which does the following:

Amulet Of Epicaricacy
Increases Mod Power generation by 10% when attacking an enemy with an active Status Effect. Mod Power generation is increased by an additional 25%.

Ring of the Mantis
Increases fire rate by 10% and Crit Damage by 20% when the wearer stops moving for 1.5 seconds.

It’s nice to have a new Amulet however, that is not what you need. There is a very small chance that a black & red bug will spawn instead of a red bug. The Black Bug will drop the Hardened Carapace, just the one. After about 4 hours of restarting the Adventure Mode, killing the red bug, we only found the black bug once. This is nothing something that you will be able to complete quickly.

If you’re new to Remnant or perhaps a returning player with a poor memory, Remnant: From The Ashes features a uniquely exciting and rewarding mechanic with alternative kill options for bosses. Many of the bosses in the game can be finished off under special circumstances. This usually offers a different reward for those patient and skilled enough to discover the alt kill method, making it very worthwhile.

Remnant: From The Ashes Unclean One Alt Kill Guide
You find The Unclean One in the Swamps of Corsus. It’s a random boss spawn so you will not find it every single time you play the map. Once you are lucky enough to come across The Unclean One, the alternative kill is actually very simple. When you enter The Unclean One’s large shack, don’t sprint and don’t approach the boss. Instead, turn right and run down some stairs. Down the stairs are a number of pots, choose the left pot in the middle of the room and sit inside. After about 10-15 seconds, the screen will go black and The Unclean One will appear downstairs. From there, simply finish him off to complete the alt kill.

When you kill The Unclean One in this form he drops a Hammerhead’s Ore. You can trade this back at base for a Butcher’s Flail melee weapon. It’s mod ability is a Corrosive Strike. It has, by default, a 36% chance to applying Corroded effect to an enemy it hits. If applied, it reduces the enemies defense by 15% for 10 seconds. If you use a Charged Attack, the chance of causing Corroded soars to 100%. Making it a very viable melee weapon against enemies with higher defensive abilities.

Sometimes in the new DLC you will find a stone pillar with three circles. This What To Do With Stone Pillar In Remnant: From The Ashes guide tells you everything you need to know about these mysterious pillars scattered around, called Cryptolith.

The Cryptolith’s are special stone pillars that appear in maps following the release of the Swamps of Corsus DLC that is out now for PC and out soon for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Once these are discovered there is always a nearby Checkpoint that you can use to return to the pillar. This is the only place we’ve found where the name of the stone monument, the Cryptolith is displayed.

What To Do With Stone Pillar In Remnant: From The Ashes
The Stone Pillar, the Cryptolith, requires a Cryptolith Sigil. Once you have a Sigil you can interact with the monument and you unlock different items depending on how many sigils you have added to the monument. For example, when you place your first Sigil into the monument, you unlocked the Concentration (Weapon Mod Duration +1s) Trait. Further items are unlocked for repeating these steps.

It’s best done in Adventure Mode. Choose the Swamps, Corsus, and then travel to the Swamp map. The new DLC is in an old area but there’s lots of new content added. This includes a new encounter with the Queen. It’s random and rare. After about 6 attempts we found the Queen just the once. You need to keep repeating Corsus until you have the random spawn of the Iskal Temple area. The queen is inside. She is not immediately aggressive and can be approached. Speak with her and she will give you a trinket, the Cryptolith Sigil. You can then find the monument, install the Sigil, and get your reward. If you want to reach the top reward, you can simply find the Monument again and use the same Sigil.

Where to find the Pocket Watch and who to give it to? This Remnant: From the Ashes Pocket Watch Guide answers both of those questions as it’s an item hidden behind some rather extensive dialogue and can be given to a boss later in the game for alternative rewards.

Remnant: From the Ashes has many unique items that have hidden uses in the game world. One such item, the Pocket Watch, is obtained from a specific NPC and traded to a specific boss. It’s worth nothing that your game world may have one but not the other, so you can’t always get the objective complete in the same play through. If you find one but not the other, you can reroll your campaign.

Remnant: From the Ashes Pocket Watch Guide

On Earth, you will sometimes encounter an old man at the cross roads. There’s always a Red Stone point here. He sits inside a crashed helicopter singing, he also sells Stamina and Health Stews. When you speak with him there’s a few dialogue options. You need to exhaust all of the options. Keep speaking to him, always asking him to tell you more. After you finish all of his conversation choices, there’s a lot, he will give you the Pocket Watch as thanks for listening.

Once you have the Pocket Watch, you need to find Brabus. It’s a boss fight with several alternative outcomes. One such outcome is to give him the Pocket Watch. He will then give you the Bandit Armor set.

Many bosses offer unique weapons if killed a certain way. This Remnant: From The Ashes Alternative Boss Kill Guide lists each of the bosses with a discovered alternative kill method so you can get both the normal item drop and the advance item drop for the alt kill.

Whenever you defeat a boss in Remnant, you get an item to craft either a mod or weapon. This is just a normal kill, dealing damage until the boss dies. However, certain bosses have hidden items that you can obtain by defeating the enemy in a certain way. Below is a list of the different bosses with alt kill methods and how its done.

Earth Bosses Alternative Kill Guide

How do you reroll? How do you do it? These questions and more answered in our Remnant: From the Ashes Reroll Campaign Guide, detailing the games unique reroll system that allows players to reset a particular stage of their campaign to explore different avenues of progress.

Remnant: From the Ashes features many mechanics and features not traditionally found in other third-person games. One such feature is the ability to reroll a campaign. There are a number of campaigns in the game but the reroll feature works much the same with each campaign.

Remnant: From the Ashes Reroll Campaign Guide

How To Reroll
Go to the Red Stone at Ward 13 and interact with it. Select “World Settings”. This will then show all of the different world saves you have alongside information such as difficulty and play time. The option to Reroll will be shown at the bottom of the screen.

Do I lose stuff when I reroll?
All of your progress in that campaign is lost. For example, all of the bosses will return, the map will be unexplored, any events that occurred are undone. However, you do not lose your character, your gear, your gear levels, everything about your character remains exactly the same.

Why Reroll?
Remnant: From the Ashes’ game worlds are randomly generated each time. This means each play through can be slightly different or massively different. Choosing the Reroll option will let you complete the same campaign again but with different outcomes. The bosses can be different, the mods you find can be different, the items, all are different on each play through.
