Ryuji is one of the confidant’s in Persona 5 you can’t miss. He will hold the key to unlocking maximum points for the Chariot Personas you fuse. Check out this Persona 5 Confidant Guide For Ryuji and fill the bar up quick.
IMPORTANT: When speaking with any Confidant in Persona 5, when furthering the relationship is possible, you can receive a huge bonus if you have a matching Arcana Persona in your inventory. When speaking with Ryuji, make sure to bring a Persona in the Chariot Arcana.
Persona 5 Raising Ryuji Confidant Bar
Ryuji will want to hang out and do some training behind the gym. He will say he is feeling slower then he used to and for battle he wants to build muscle. When you get the choice tell him “I’m counting on you” and that will give you a boost to friendship. After he talks about what happened with the Track team, ask him if he wants to go back and you will get another minor boost. At the end you will unlock Rank 2 of the Chariot Arcana.
Ryuji will text you and say he wants to train again. I had the Slime Persona which is a Chariot type and I got a relationship bonus for hanging out with him. When the other track guys show up say Let’s Not Fight for a bonus. When second choice pops up, tell Ryuji To Calm Down and you will get a big bonus. By the end you should have increased your Chariot Arcana Rank again.
You will have to hang out with him twice before you can get the next level. When you are eating ramen with him and he brings up his former teammate say “Are you worried about him?” to get a relationship boost. When the next option comes up, say” But you are doing great” to get a big boost. This should get your Chariot Arcana to rank 4, I had the Slime with me again which gives you a bigger relationship boost.
Be sure to bring a Chariot Persona with you when you go to hang out with Ryuji again. This time I didn’t have to wait for the next upgrade, because you can earn bonus points in previous interactions by having a Chariot with you..
When you get to the Gym and he asks if you brought your stuff say “Protein Powder?” for three notes. When he talks about the track team say”Do you want to rejoin” for two notes. When he talks about the new coach say “So he’s an asshole?”. This will get you to the next Chariot Arcana rank.
This comes up towards the end of May with Mishima and Ryuji. I don’t know 100% if this makes a difference relationship wise or not, but you do get music notes when you interact with them. At the start, say “You are a genius Ryuji” for three notes.
When Ryuji is looking for a place to train, suggest Protein Lovers for two notes. When the track guys are messing with Nakaoda say “You should trust Nakaoda” for three notes. When Ryuji askes if you get what he is saying respond with “absolutely” for three notes. The last two responses don’t matter.
This one takes a little while and you need to wait for Ryuji to contact you. When he does and he mentions that guy will be drinking at a bar, accept to tail him with Ryuji. After both the teachers leave, Ryuji will appear and you will get some choices. I am changing things up a bit here, thing of the choices as multiple choices from here on out.

Not sure if this was time specific or relationship specific but eventually Ryuji will text you Saturday night to hang out and fish Sunday. Agree and you will unlock the fishing hole and spend the day with Ryuji.

Response 3 – She is a master fisherman – This gives a bonus for Kawakami and Ryuji
You can’t get the next Arcana level off this but the bonus points on two people is hard to pass up.
After the last one, Ryuji will text you eventually and ask you to help him out. Accept and you will meet up with two guy sfrom the track team.

Ryuji likes to hang out in places with good food, if you don’t have any open just train with him. Ryuji will text you when he next wants to hang out. When he does you will have a few responses to give for Rank 9 of the Chariot.

Since it is rank 10, whatever you say to Ryuji will be good. This will get his Persona to change to the next level and you will max out the Chariot Arcana.
Futaba is another Confidant you will unlock in Persona 5. She is unlocked during the month of August, so you will have to wait a bit before you can start upgrading her. Check out this Persona 5 Confidant Guide to max out Futaba as quickly as possible.
