Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain Guide: How To Get A Dog
Once of the partners you can get in Metal Gear Solid 5 is a Dog. He has a different set of abilities than D Horse and can be useful is different situations. This guide will help you find the Dog in Metal Gear Solid 5.
Where To Get A Dog In Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
When you get off the helicopter during Main Mission 4, a pup will run up towards you and bark. At this point Ocelot will tell you about the pup and you can then send him back to Mother Base. If you check his left eye you will see that is damaged, similar to Big Bosses. Now all you need to do is beat that mission. Do it how you normally would beat a mission and once you leave you will be sent back to Mother Base. You will get a cut scene once you arrive with the pup and Ocelot. Ocelot has named the pup DD(Diamond Dog) and thinks he will be an asset later, you have to wait awhile you use him.
I was able to finally use him after my 10th main mission got completed. He can help you locate enemies and prisoners on the map, as well as mines and plants. The downside to him over D Horse is you can’t ride him so you need to land closer or run further. He can spot an enemy at about 100 meters when you first get him, it upgrades later but it is very useful early on. Just remember that you still need to do the scanning to figure out if they have skills and what ranks they have. With D Dog you can also figure out how many are patrolling together to help you plan an attack better. I always had a problem of knocking a guy out but then him getting spotted by an another enemy before I could react. With D Dog that was no longer a problem! He’s kind of like wall hacks to be honest.
He can be spotted by guards but it doesn’t alert them to your presence. He can also attack and you can upgrade his damage to either kill or stun depending on what you want him do. He can lure enemies and if you don’t want him to follow you can have him stay. Overall D Dog is a solid partner to bring to just about any mission.
