Shining Resonance Refrain features a ton of rewarding Side Quests with various objectives. This Shining Resonance Refrain Side Quest Guide will tell you where to find all the side quests we have discovered, information on the objective, rewards and how to complete them.

You do not have access to side quests at the beginning of Shining Resonance Refrain. You need to progress a couple of hours into the main story before you are able to unlock them. You cannot miss it. It’s part of the natural progress through the story and a tutorial prompt appears once unlocked, explaining the basics of side quests.

There are two main types of Side Quests in Shining Resonance Refrain. Side Quests and Item Quests. Side Quests are obtained through speaking with other characters in the world whereas Item Quests can be gathered by speaking with Liselotte at the shop. The latter are simple quests where you turn in items. You can gather the items as you progress through the game and just turn then in once you have enough.

Below is a list of Shining Resonance Refrain Side Quests, divided into the different chapters of the game. Each side quest tells you how to acquire the side quest, the objective, information on the reward and how you complete it. If are at the right place and chapter but the quest isn’t available, try sleeping at the inn. You can also use Grimoire dungeon chests

Chapter 2 Side Quests

Cooking Practice

Quest Giver: Primula (Downtown)
Objective: Gather 4x Rosso Tomato
Reward: Primula’s Sandwich
Method: There is another side quest in Downtown called Farming Conditions. Complete that quest to receive 5 Rosso Tomato’s.

Need Help

Quest Giver: Earnest Soldier (Downtown)
Objective: Defeat Orc
Reward: Warding Talisman
Method: Head to the Howling Hole area in Ladlum Caverns. There’s a large orc enemy in the North West corner of the map. Defeat him. It’s a tough battle if you’re not prepared. Level 8-10+ should be enough.

Farming Conditions

Quest Giver: Farmer Lady
Objective: Defeat 8x Hobgoblin
Reward: Rosso Tomato x5
Method: You can find a good number of them in Breeze Field in the Windia Grasslands.

Lost Technology

Quest Giver: Lyle (Downtown)
Objective: Collect 5x Armonics Tome
Reward: Shining Score x3
Method: You can find one Armonics Tome in Glaucus Falls, at the very end on the frozen lake. It’s hidden behind some boulders at the end of the area. The second one can be found atop a table at the campsite in Silent Badlands. The third one is during Chapter 4. When you reach Gaelritz Prison entrance, there’s a shiny object on the left side of the map. The fourth one can be found in Chapter 5 on the Drowsy Reefs map of Coral Caves. It’s on the upper level of the area, near the boss, opposite a treasure chest.

Tasty Endeavor: Appetizers

Quest Giver: Hungry Lady (Downtown)
Objective: Collect 3x Fungus Hypha
Reward: 1x Giant Weapon
Method: Head to the Ladlum Caverns and defeat Marasmius. There are the small mushroom type enemies. The drop rate for Fungus Hypha is quite low, so you may need to kill 10-15 to get a drop.

Unique Ensemble

Quest Giver: Fernando (Castlefront Street)
Objective: Collect 1x Goblin Kukri
Reward: 1x Fernando’s Score
Method: You can find a Goblin Kukri after killing Hobgoblins. You can find a good number of them in Breeze Field in the Windia Grasslands.

My Quill Pen…

Quest Giver: Scholar (Castlefront Street)
Objective: Defeat 8x Cassowary
Reward: 1x Refresh Bottle
Method: Head outside of town to the Origin Plains. You will see two different Cassowary’s here, the large and colorful birds. Kill them, exit the area and return. Repeat until you’ve killed 8.

Symphonica Challenge

Quest Giver: Fromage (Castlefront Street. After you are introduced to Fromage)
Objective: 10x B.A.N.D Sessions
Reward: Mana Mist
Method: After Rinna joins your party, you unlock B.A.N.D in combat. Use the B.A.N.D command 10 different times to complete this quest.

Gathering Ingredients

Quest Giver: Rapple (Downtown)
Objective: Gather 7x Fishwort Mushroom
Reward: Detox Bottle x5
Method: Kill the Fishwort Mushrooms in the Windia Grasslands area.

Disposing The Collection

Quest Giver: Antique Man (Downtown. After you complete the patrol mission)
Objective: Kill 10 Statues
Reward: 3x Mana Crystal
Method: Head to the Ladlum Caverns and defeat Statues.

New Cauldron

Quest Giver: Rapple (After completing Rapple’s first mission, sleep and then speak with him again)
Objective: Obtain Pressure Cauldron
Reward: 1000g, new Alchemy recipes
Method: You need to find 2x Statue Fragments, 2x Paste Cores and 1x Large Shell. You can find the Statue Fragments in the Howling Hole area of Ladlum Caverns. You can find the Paste Cores in the same area on the green slime enemies. Finally, you can get the Large Shell from the Breedershells in Breeze Field. Once you have all the parts, create the Pressure Cauldron via Item Synthesis.

Pollen Season

Quest Giver: Happy-Go-Lucky Lady (Castlefront Street, after you get the Rescuing Rinna mission)
Objective: Defeat 5x Breedershell
Reward: 5x Heal Mint
Method: Breedershells in Breeze Field

Butterfly Dream Cantata

Quest Giver: Fernando (Castlefront Street)
Objective: Spirit Mistletoe x2
Reward: Fenando’s Score
Method: You can find these as drops from enemies Daisy in the Creek Path area of Elmore Greatwood

Hunt The Illusive Shadow

Quest Giver: Rare Lover (Castlefront Street)
Objective: Hunt 5x Rare Monsters
Reward: 1x Shining Score
Method: The Rare Monsters are small eggs. They appear seemingly randomly when you encounter other enemies. I was in the forest when I found my first. It dropped an Egg Crest that you can use in the Grimoire Crests to create a dungeon with multiple eggs. That’s enough to finish the quest.

Bring Me A Drink

Quest Giver: Drunk Man (Castlefront Street)
Objective: Collect 5x Elmore Water
Reward: 1x Avian Talon
Method: You can find Elmore Water on enemies in and around the Elmore Springs

Splendid Sandy Weather

Quest Giver: Stella (Downtown)
Objective: Obtain 1x Twilight Amber
Reward: 2x Twilight Amber
Method: You can find Twilight Amber on the floor in the Clavalle Crags area. Search the shining spots.

A Jiggly Incident

Quest Giver: Mellow Old Lady (Downtown)
Objective: Defeat Horde
Reward: Egg Shell
Method: Head out of town. You’ll see a slime. Attack it and you will have to fight a huge horde of slimes.

Help Me

Quest Giver: Peasant Boy (Downtown)
Objective: Obtain 3x Health Mint
Reward: 2x Light Rock
Method: Very easy ingredient to obtain. I had nearly 50 by this point.

For The Neighbors

Reward: 3x Fish Oil
Method: You can find this on the floor scattered around town. It’s quite rare. Just look out for the shining spots and you’ll get all 5 eventually.

Method: You can find the Manticore in the Thirsting Wastes map in Clavalle Crags. He is level 44. Ahsgrimm is in the Silent Badlands area of Clavalle Crags, at level 43 and the Flare Dragon is level 45 and can be found in the Lost Garden area of Clavalle Crags.

Thunderous Forest

Quest Giver: Stella (Downtown, whilst on main quest Gathering Information)
Objective: Obtain 1x Angelite
Reward: 2x Angelite
Method: You can search the ground in Elmore Greatwood during a Thunderstorm. However, you can also progress into Chapter 4 and complete Tasty Endeavor: Dessert. You get an Angelite for completing it.

Stress Reliever

Quest Giver: Energetic Lady (Downtown. When you have Investigating Ancient Documents main quest)
Objective: Defeat 30x Alchemic
Reward: Luring Kandelaar x2
Method: Head to the Silent Badlands map in Clavalle Crags and defeat the Earth Elemental there.

Combo

Quest Giver: Fromage (Castlefront Street. When you have Investigating Ancient Documents main quest. Must have completed past Fromage quests)
Objective: Reach maximum combo of 30 in combat

Method: Link together attacks to reach a 30 hit combo

Method: At the end of Chapter 4, complete the Lion’s Den side quest for Burroughs. That rewards you with a Giant Fist.

Reward: 1x Four-Leaf Clover
Method: You can find Lavar Stone scattered across the floor on the Silent Badlands map of Clavalle Crags

Method: You can get Red Feathers from the Cassowary bird enemies on Origin Plains.

Method: You need to defeat Purple Pastes. I used a Grimoire Crest for Pastes.

Method: You can find undead monsters in Ladlum Caverns but there’s not many. I would suggest using a Grimoire dungeon.

Method: These can be found on the floor in the Clavalle Crags region

Misty Graveyard

Quest Giver: Stella (Downtown. Once you have the main mission to head to Sleepy Hollow)
Objective: Obtain 1x Afterworld Dew
Reward: 2x Afterworld Dew
Method: You need to search the Sleepy Hollow when it’s Misty. There’s a camp not far. You can rest there and then check the woods. If it’s raining in the woods, it’s misty in Sleepy Hollow.

Lion’s Den

Quest Giver: Burroughs (Castlefront Street. After you have the mission to head to Sleepy Hollow)
Objective: Defeat 40x Human
Reward: 1x Giant Fist
Method: Defeat 40 human enemies. I used a Empire Discord in a Grimoire Dungeon, much faster.

Emma’s Glasses

Quest Giver: Emma (Downtown, Inn)
Objective: Obtain Emma’s Glasses x1
Reward: Seagull Drink x1
Method: You will need 1x Drake Scale, 1x Night Vision Goggles, 2x Fish Lens. I already had the items at this point. The Drake Scale is from one of the dragon mini-bosses in the canyon area. Night Vision Goggles can be stolen or found in Empire territory and Fish Lens are common from the flying fish enemies.

Marga’s Trend

Quest Giver: Rinna (Downtown)
Objective: Obtain 3x Elmore Aloe
Reward: Fighting Charge x5
Method: You can find Elmore Aloe at Search points in Elmore Greatwood. It’s not a common find. It was also raining for me, unsure if that matters.

Poison Frog Choir

Quest Giver: Fruit Lady
Objective: Kill 15x Poison Frogger
Reward: 3x Spirit Seed
Method: Head to Elmore Greatwood and defeat 15 Poison Froggers.

Chapter 5 Side Quests

Goblin Bandits

Quest Giver: Gossipy Lady (Downtown)
Objective: Defeat Goblin Horde
Reward: Elixir x3
Method: On the Silent Badlands map of Clavalle Crags. In the Northern area there’s a goblin. Attack the goblin and then defeat the horde.

No Such Thing As Ghosts

Quest Giver: Bratty Boy (Castlefront Street)
Objective: Defeat 1x Dark Knight
Reward: 1x Brave Mask
Method: Head to the Gloompath in Sleeping Hollow. The Dark Knight is a large enemy in that area. It was misty when I discovered him, but he may be there regardless of weather.

The Imperial Plant

Quest Giver: Rinna (Downtown)
Objective: Obtain 3x Emperor Cactus
Reward: 3x Aroma Bottle
Method: You can find this at Search Points on Silent Badlands in Clavalle Crags.

Flowing Capriccio

Quest Giver: Fernando (Castlefront Street)
Objective: Obtain 1x Fallen Tear
Reward: 1x Fernando’s Score
Method: You can steal a Fallen Tear from the Cherub boss enemy in the Tidal Cavern area of Coral Caves. It also drops when you kill it, but is a much lower drop rate.

Mushroom Phobia

Quest Giver: Talkative Lady (Castlefront Street)
Objective: Defeat 30x Nature Monsters
Reward: 1 Cordyceps
Method: Head to Elmore Greatwood. Once you arrive at the Forest of Giants, you will encounter a massive horde of mushrooms. Take them out to complete the quest.

For The King

Quest Giver: Sonia (Downtown)
Objective: Obtain 1x Mandragora
Reward: 1x Destruction Bolt
Method: You can steal these from Empress Rose enemies, or sometimes they drop when defeated. Search the Church Ruins map of Sleepy Hollow.

Lizardburglar

Quest Giver: Fisherman (Downtown)
Objective: Defeat 10x Lizard Leader
Reward: 1x Gold Fin
Method: You can find Lizard Leaders at Coral Caves. They are yellow instead of green.

The Best Water

Quest Giver: Rapple (Downtown)
Objective: Obtain 5x Elmore Water
Reward: 3x High Potion
Method: You can find lots of Elmore Water in Elmore Greatwood at the Creek Path, just before the entrance to Glaucus Falls.

Girlish Hobby

Reward: 1x Fairy Doll
Method: These can be found at Search Points throughout Coral Caves. It is a VERY small rate. It takes a while.

Rinna’s Snack

Method: You can get these from the Gang Of Three Side Quest in Chapter 3.

Quest Giver: Scholar (Castlefront Street)
Objective: Defeat 10x Thunder Crawlers

Method: You need to defeat Thunder Crawlers in Elmore Greatwood. They only appear during storms. The best method to changing weather here is to visit the camp at the Southern edge of Djingharna Ruins, sleep and then walk back to Elmore Springs to check the weather. Repeat until there is a storm in Elmore Greatwood.

Method: Sharion Water is very common in Search Points across Starlight Shore in the Sharion Coast

Method: You should be familiar with Dragons by now. There’s plenty around, usually large mini-boss enemies on maps. I killed them as I explored but if you want to do it fast, there’s a camp on Starlight Shore in Sharion Coast that’s 5 seconds from a dragon spawn. Kill, sleep, repeat.

Natural Conversation

Quest Giver: Lestin (Castlefront Street)
Objective: Obtain 10x Windia Swallowtails
Reward: 1x Healing Echo
Method: You can find these around Search Points at Windia Grasslands, although they are quite rare.

Rock Symbol

Quest Giver: Agnum (Castlefront Street)
Objective: Obtain 10x Cracked Skulls
Reward: 1x Burning Cookbook
Method: Defeat Skeletons in Sleepy Hollows. They can sometimes also be found in Search Points.

Mayim Mile

Quest Giver: Stella (Downtown)
Objective: Defeat 99x Nature
Reward: ???? x1
Method: Head to Elmore Greatwood Creek Path. Once there you will see a Dragonfly encircled in an objective marker. Initiate combat. You have to fight an endless wave of natural enemies. You reward scales based on how many enemies you can defeat within the time limit. They are all mostly weak to fire but even at level 50, I was only able to kill 30 enemies or so.

Devil’s Whisper

Reward: 2000g, New Recipe
Method: Demon Fruit is dropped by the Archedemon on the Church Ruins map in Sleepy Hollow. The Archedemon does not spawn if it is raining or a storm.

Challenging Carrots

Quest Giver: Kirika (Downtown / Ruins Camp)
Objective: Obtain 7x Cheer Carrot
Reward: 1x Heal Power
Method: Very commonly found in Search Points around Marga.

Tasty Endeavor: Meat

Method: Head to the Ancient Graveyard and defeat the Grand Smasher. The drop rate is very low. You can also steal it.

Good Fortune 1

Method: Head down to Starlight Shore and defeat 20 Charcoal enemies.

Sand, Sand, & More Sand

Method: Travel to the Ancient Graveyard in the Ulde Desert and check Search Points. The weather needs to be a sandstorm. Sleep at the camp in Clavalle Crags and travel back and forth until the weather changes.

Jack Pot

Objective: Defeat 10x Buoyant Octo
Reward: 1x Frigid Rock
Method: Head down to Starlight Shore and defeat 10 Buoyant Octo enemies.
